21. 24th July 2008 Farewell to the "Old Clubhouse"
Attention members-On Saturday 2nd of August at 5pm a 9 hole shotgun competition will take place to mark the occasion of the impending closure of the old clubhouse.Light refreshments will be served afterwards. The time sheet for this competition will be released today 24th July at 12pm.Adult members only.

20. 24th July 2008 Friday Night 9 hole semi open invitational
Members can invite their friends along for a friendly game of golf on Fridays from 5.40pm to 7pm.The cost is €5 per person, format singles and ILGU/GUI handicaps are NOT necessary. The competition is over 18's only and there is no need to book a slot just come along with your friends and enjoy!
19. 16th July 2008 John Duff - retirement
The club competition starter, John Duff, retired from his duties on Sunday 13th July. The club thanks him for the excellent service he provided over the years and wishes him a happy retirement. Captain Des Hickey has invited John to carry out the starter role for one last time on Captain's Day 26th July.
18. 6 July 2008 Captain's Qualifiers
The qualifying stage took place on Saturday 5th July and Sunday 6th July.
238 male competitors played over the weekend - 89 (37%) on Saturday, 149 (63%) on Sunday.
120 male players have qualified - 44 (37%) from Saturday's competition and 76 (63%) from Sunday's competition.
Listed below are the 120 men who have qualified for the final day in score ascending order.
1. If you qualified please place book your name on the electronic time sheet (within the allocated time frame), which will be released for bookings on Thursday 10th July at 12 noon.
2. Qualifiers who have not placed their name on the time sheet by Thursday 17th July will be removed from the competition and replaced by the next qualifier(s).
3. If you qualified but are unable to play please contact the Competitions Secretary. It is important that this is done immediately to allow replacement qualifier(s) to compete.
4. Men Qualifiers play within the allocated time-frame (shown on the timesheet) 07:18 - 11:39 and ladies from 11.48 - 12.24.
6. The format for the Final Day competition will be Singles Strokes (White tees - Men),(Red tees -Ladies).
7. The Captain's guests will play from 12:33 onwards in a competition separate to the main competition.

17. 26th June 2008 Lady Captain's Day 12th July 2008
The time sheet for the Lady Captain's Day will be open for bookings from today 25th June 2008 at 12pm.
15. 9th June President's qualifiers
The qualifying stage took place on Saturday 7th June and Sunday 8th June.
259 male competitors played over the weekend - 125 (48%) on Saturday, 134 (52%) on Sunday.
120 players have qualified - 58 (48%) from Saturday's competition and 62 (52%) from Sunday's competition.
The document in the mens competitions area on the website shows the 120 (male) players who have qualified for the Final Day in score ascending order. All who scored 33 points and one who scored 32 points on Saturday qualified. All who scored 34 points and a number of players who scored 33 points on Sunday qualified. A count back was applied to determine best 33pt scores from Sunday¡¦s qualifier.

5 An earlier timeslot (07:00 - 07:54) provides an opportunity for non qualifiers to play. However a separate competition will not be run for this group of players.
6 The format for the Final Day competition will be Singles Strokes (White tees (Men) Red tees (Ladies).
7 The President's guests will play from 13:18 - 14:39 in a stableford competition separate to the main competition.

12. 22 May 2008 3T's Charity Event
A total of €1,150 was raised from last Saturday's charity event. The money raised funds the 3T's Awareness Campaign for action, intervention and prevention of suicide in our society.
The Lady winner, Val Ormrod and Men winner Kevin Fox will play as a team with the Lady Captain and Club Professional in the provincial qualifier at St. Margaret's G.C. later this year.

11. 22 May 2008 Electronic Timesheet
Competition time sheets will close for bookings at 9 p.m on the day before the competition. You may still enter the competitions by contacting or attending the club on the morning of the competition and availing of any space on the timesheet that becomes available. If your name is entered on the time sheet within the time allocated for the day's competition you are deemed to have entered the competition of that day. If you fail to fulfil your place on the competition time sheet without any reasonable explanation you will be deemed a “No Show” and will subsequently be sanctioned by the Men/Ladies Club Committee. For a first offence, for one week, you will not have access to electronic time sheet booking. You may still enter competitions by attending the club on the morning of the competition and availing of any space on the timesheet that becomes available. Subsequent offences will result in suspension from competitions and from accessing electronic time sheet booking for a specified period of time. Each player is accountable for a time sheet booking under his/her name. Members should not make time sheet bookings for other players without checking that they will be able to fulfil their place on the competition time sheet.

A great (dry) day was had by all at the 1st ladies club fundraiser. 6. 13 April 2008 Pre-scramble quiz
The pre-scramble quiz took place on Wednesday 9th April and was a great success due in no small part to the following people; quiz master Colm Connell and his assistants Pauline and Tracy Connell, sponsors Jackie Reid and ticket seller extraordinaire Mary Courtney. Thanks also to all those who gave a spot prize and to all those who supported the quiz and raffle. An invitational mixed four person team event will take place on Monday 28th April to raise funds for the Ladies Club!The competition runs from 12pm to 4pm, costs €160 per team and includes a steak dinner. The time-sheet is available for bookings now!You can also sponsor and name a hole on the day for €50.Prizes on the day sponsored by Ballygowan.Your support would be greatly appreciated.

2. Feb 10th 2008 Junior Golf Club Membership
Places in the Junior Club for boys and girls are now available to member's children that have reached the age of 10 years.
Members wishing to enrol their children for the 2008 season should complete a membership application form in full and leave it in the office including payment.
The costs which cover membership, coaching and insurance are as follows;
Cadets and beavers 10 to 13 years is €118. Juveniles up to 18 years €168. Intermediates up to 23 years €291 including GUI levy.
There are also some spaces available to children of non-members, the same fees apply.
Membership will remain open until March 31st.
Club gear: Club sweatshirts and polo neck shirts are available in all sizes, the pair will cost €28 or €15 each. It is compulsory that all juniors wear club clothing when playing in Hollywood Lakes.
